On August 31, the “Protection of Rights without Borders” (PRWB) NGO held a discussion in Yerevan on “Issues of Legal Practice Concerning the Status and Realization of the Social Rights of Forcibly Displaced Persons from Artsakh.”
In her opening remarks, Araks Melkonyan, President of the “Protection of Rights without Borders” NGO, noted that the organization continues to focus on protecting the rights of forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh and provides them with free legal assistance concerning the realization of their status and social rights.
PRWB lawyers Nina Hakobyan and Tatevik Siradeghyan presented the issues identified by the organization through its provision of legal assistance.
Particular attention was given to issues related to citizenship and the restoration of documents. According to the cases documented through the organization’s legal practice, the absence of birth, marriage, and other documents, as well as discrepancies in personal data, can hinder the submission of citizenship applications. Delays in resolving these issues can also affect access to housing and other support programmes. In some cases, individuals are required to pursue notarial or court proceedings to restore or correct their documents, resulting in additional time and financial costs.
Yelena Arakelyan, Judge of the Administrative Court of the Republic of Armenia, presented the specific features of proceedings concerning these issues examined by the Administrative Court and shared her observations.
The discussion also addressed issues related to pension entitlement and the verification of employment records, access to support programmes, property rights, and a number of procedural matters.
