PRWB Calls for Investigation into Possible Violations of Indian Migrant Workers’ Rights

The Protection of Rights Without Borders (PRWB) NGO has appealed a decision by an investigator of the Tavush Regional Investigation Department of Armenia’s Investigative Committee, which declined to initiate criminal proceedings concerning alleged rights violations and potential crimes against Indian citizens employed at the Grand Textile factory in Ijevan.

PRWB’s request to open criminal proceedings was based on information contained in publicly available videos and media reports indicating possible labor exploitation, forced labor, physical abuse, and the alleged use of force by police officers during a strike involving Indian workers.

The organization is calling for criminal proceedings to be initiated and for the allegations to be examined through an independent, thorough, and effective investigation.

PRWB remains committed to protecting labor rights in Armenia, including the labor and fundamental rights of migrant workers. The organization continues to advocate for every allegation of abuse or rights violation to receive a comprehensive legal assessment and effective investigation.
