“The Expression “Selling Areas during the April War” Related to Khachturov and is Abusive” – Advocate

Today, the court hearing on the case «Khachaturov against Stepan Grigoryan” chaired by Judge Tatevik Stepanyan took place.
it should be mentioned, that Yuri Khachaturov Former Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization sued politician Stepan Grigoryan for making some kind of abusive expression related to the military activities of the April war in 2018.

The latter demands a compensation for moral damage in the amount of two million Armenian Dram and public denial.

During the today’s court hearing, Grigor Bekmezyan referred to statement of Haykuhi Harutyunyan, defender of Stepan Grigoryan, saying that the statements of Grigoryan were mostly of evaluative nature, therefore the appeal of Khachaturov is a subject for rejection in that regard.

Bekmezyan noted that the question of the journalist directed to Stepan Grigoryan do not refer tot the military activities of the April events, but rather related to the election of the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, but Stepan Grigoryan himself related to it and transferred it to Yuri Khachaturov, which are not in a line with reality: “Those are not mere opinions, but contain certain data. For example, Stepan Grigoryan said: “I will recommend National Security Service to check the accounts of Khachaturov”. That means, that Khachaturov is accussed of it. He does not try to evaluate, he is sure in his statements and National Security Service urged to make some activities. Therefore, there are no evaluative observations here”.

Haykuhi Harutyunyan, the representative of Stepan Griogryan stated, that Griogoryan did not have any abusive expressions. “There are no factual data in his expressions, if we analyze the sentences separately. As a professional politician, he presented his opinion expressing suspicion”.

Grigor Bekmezyan, the representative of Khachaturov concluded saying, that the expressions “participated in the selling of the Armenian land during April war” expression related to Yuri Khachaturov and were abusive in nature.

Haykuhi Harutyunyan, the representative of Stepan Griogryan did not agree with the above mentioned, stating, that Stepan Gripgoryan publically applied to the relevant body National Security Service, since he suspected that such demands of Yuri Khachaturov are not reasonable. “Moreover, that expression did not get an official denial”.

It should be mentioned, that the next court of this case will take place in April 15, at 16:00 PM.
