Open Letter from Armenian Human Rights NGOs to U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance on the Issue of Armenian Prisoners
On the eve of U.S. Vice President JD Vance’s visit
We’ve just talked to Advocate Haykuhi Harutyunyan in Shengavit Police Station. As stated by her, there were also two doctors, which were not related to the demonstration, were also detained on the way to work.
The relatives of the detainees were standing near the building, trying to know wether their relatives were there, but they were not provided with information. People were embarrassed, did not know where their relatives were.
The door of the police station was always closed and opened, when a new citizen was brought to the police department. Policemen went out of the building and the names of 6 children were announced asking whether their parents were there. The parents of two juveniles were there, they allowed to enter the building: they had right to legal representative, which can be also their parent.
