Organization
The Protection of Rights without Borders (PRWB) is an Armenian NGO founded in 2009. Its mission is to enhance the effectiveness of human rights protection and to promote the principles of the rule of law and good governance in Armenia. The organization specializes in the fields of human rights, judiciary, public administration, anti-corruption, and security.
PRWB conducts comprehensive monitoring and assessment of the state of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law, including judicial monitoring, legal research, policy analysis, and evaluation of sectoral reforms. The organization documents human rights and international humanitarian law violations and carries out advocacy at both national and international levels. PRWB also implements capacity-building initiatives for sector-specific professionals, as well as public education programs on human rights.
A core component of PRWB’s work is the provision of pro bono legal aid to individuals whose human rights have been violated, alongside strategic litigation. This work has contributed to a number of precedent-setting judgments of the European Court of Human Rights against Armenia, influencing systemic reforms and strengthening legal safeguards.
PRWB actively participates in international, regional, and national platforms and working groups. These include the Civic Solidarity Platform, the Open Governance Partnership, the OECD Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the Coalition for the International Criminal Court, and the EU–Armenia Civil Society Platform under the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA). At the national level, PRWB is engaged in national platforms such as the Partnership for an Open Society, the Public Council under the RA Minister of Justice, and the Judicial and Human Rights Reform Monitoring Councils.
