Gurgen Margarian case filed to the european court of human rights
The justice in respect to Gurgen Margaryan case must be restored. The unfairness of the Hungarian court’s decision on Ramil Safarov’s extradition, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering Armenian officer Gurgen Margarian with motives of national hatred and fascism, aroused feelings of revolt in the hearts of all the Armenian people.
Gurgen Margaryan’s uncle, Samvel Minasyan, and his mate, officer Hayk Mukuchyan, (the victim of Safarov’s attempted murder) filed a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights against the Republic of Azerbaijan and Hungary.
The president of “Protection of Rights without Borders” NGO, attorney Siranush Sahakyan, is going to represent the applicants in the European Court along with other attorneys. According to her, the complaint particularly seeks to contest the violation of the 2nd and 14th articles of the European Convention on the right to life and prohibition of discrimination by Azerbaijan, as well as the violation of the 2nd article of the convention by Hunagary.
