has-text-color\"><a>The Protection of Rights without Borders NGO has\nconducted an examination on the practice of the application of preventive\nmeasures applied by the domestic courts during the COVID-19 pandemic, the\ngrounds and justification of detention, the risk assessment of the pandemic,\nthe risk caused by the latter and role of the pandemic for applying the relevant\npreventive measures. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nthis regard, 129 cases (on 149 people) containing decisions on replacing the\ndetention through alternative preventive measure against the accused have been\nexamined through a specially elaborated questionnaire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking\ninto account the legislative regulations on the pre-trial secrecy of the\ninformation during the pre-trail proceedings, as well as the non-public nature\nof the decisions made in terms of the detention of the accused, the publicly accessible\ndecisions on the examination of the interventions to replace the detention\nthrough alternative preventive measure during the judicial investigation of the\ncriminal cases by the RA courts of general jurisdiction within the period of\nMarch 16 of 2020 to June 30 of 2020 have been examined. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>91\ninterventions (61%) irrelevant to the application of preventive measure against\n149 accused have been rejected and 58 interventions (39 %) have been\nrespectively satisfied. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nexamination is summarized with recommendations directed to the solution of the\npresented problems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The examination was conducted by the \u201cProtection of Rights without Borders\u201d NGO with the financial support of the Open Society Foundations \u2013 Armenia in the scope of the Project on \u201cExamination of the Practice on the Detention Practices during the COVID-19 Pandemic and Support to the Maintenance of the Universal Human Rights Criteria\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color
