Subject to the RA Law on the Treatment of the Detained and Arrested Persons, immediate family members, friends and representatives of mass media are permitted to visit inmates upon the approval of the chief of the penitentiary institution. For the purposes of inquiry, the inmate visits can be prohibited by the relevant inquiry body provided that the staff is notified in writing of it in advance. Inmates are permitted at least 2 visits per month, which can last up to 3 hours. (The RA Law on the Treatment of the Detained and Arrested Persons, No. 15, 17).
