Shall the family members be informed on the detention place of an inmate?

Immediately upon his/her arrest, but not later than 12 hours, the accused person has the right to ask the inquiry body to inform his/her family members on his/her detention. (No. 65, Part II, provision 9, Code of Criminal Procedure).

At the same time, the detention staff shall notify in writing the accused person’s immediate family members or other individuals as indicated by the inmate of his/her detention or transfer from one institution to another not later than 3 days from the moment of his detention or transfer. (The RA Law on the Treatment of the Detained and Arrested Persons, No.32)
